Let's get it started! As a candidate, I get asked all the time, "What are your issues?" and while healthcare, transportation and education are all important priorities to me, I feel the biggest issue facing our district is that we are not a part of the voting majority. As a result, we have no voice at the state level when it comes to decisions that impact our community.
We have been overlooked for funding in local government aid, which will seriously impact on our cities’ abilities to provide services to us. Additionally, an attempt to reopen discussion on the Dan Patch Rail line was again tabled. This rail line could one day provide us with the same easy commute as we now have available between the Mall of America and downtown Minneapolis. It’s time we made ourselves known Winning this election is only the first step in taking back our voice. If we really want to be given the respect we deserve as the growing community we are, then we need to send a message loud and clear to the other legislators that Scott County will no longer be ignored. To do this we need to turn out in record numbers at the polls this November. It will take each and every one of us casting our vote as one to get their attention. But what will get them to listen to us is money. If we raise the maximum amount allowed for the state house campaign, we will sit at the negotiating table with authority.
The future is now
My plan is to raise $25,000.00 in individual contributions. That’s 500 voters at $50 each. I call it the Future 500 group. And that $50 is fully refundable to you through the state’s Political Campaign Refund program. Once we receive your donation, we send you a receipt and a form to fill out and within weeks, you will receive a check for $50 from the State of Minnesota. Think of it as a new way to recycle. Your $50 becomes $100; the $50 you get back and the original $50 that I keep and use for our future. Republicans use this program 2 to 1 over Democrats. It’s time we took our share.
Are you in?
Sign up today and let us add your voice to our list of supporters whose votes we can count on in November. It may be my name on the ballot, but make no mistake, this is YOUR election. Your roads. Your jobs. Your taxes. Your schools. YOUR FUTURE.
Let’s get it started!
