As a Camp Wellstone graduate, I know the importance of training volunteers for their safety and comfort in working with the public. I will provide this training to everyone who joins me because I want you to be confident, not only in me, but in yourself and the goals we share.
I won't sugar coat this. Campaigning is hard work. It takes time, energy, and a huge commitment from everyone contributing their part. But, if you play to your strengths, I think you'll find it can also be a lot of fun and rewarding at the same time. I know that's my priority for each of you.
What's your strength?
Like to exercise? Become a doorknocker and help us to canvas neighborhoods. Start with your own. It gets easier with practice. We'll teach you what to say, and how to be safe.
Always on your cell phone? I have a phone bank for you. Start by calling the people you know who want a new voice in the House. We'll provide a script and phone training until you feel comfortable.
Read the paper cover to cover? Become an Issues Watcher and let me know the ones you care about most. We have a big district and I can use your eyes and ears to learn about upcoming community events we can all participate in.
Ever planned a cookie or wreath sale for scouts? Or how about raising money for your church of community group? Then fundraising is your calling and I can use your creativity to plan our Refund-raisers.
Do you blog? Join our communications staff in taking our message to the masses via MySpace and FaceBook.
Love to type? Help us with our database management.
Always wanted to be famous? Come be in a parade and get your wave and smile on. Young and old are welcome. We'll have a flatbed for those who can't walk the whole route, and a dance team for those who want to groove with us.
