Kristoffe-Jones Receives DFL Endorsement
March 09, 2008
DFLers on March 8 once again endorsed Taylor Kristoffe-Jones in her bid to unseat Republican Mark Buesgens for the Minnesota House District 35B office. She was also endorsed by the DFL Convention in 2006.

Although she was unopposed for the endorsement, she received enthusiastic support from those at the DFL Convention. About 380 people were in attendance at this year's District 35 DFL Convention which doubled the totals of previous years, according to District 35 DFL chairman Howard Bass.

Kristoffe-Jones came late to the race in 2006, with only a few months to prepare before the election. She has had much more time to prepare her campaign this time around.

DFL gains in 2006 in formerly strong Republican areas of state, like the southern suburbs of the Twin Cities, make the two House seats in District 35 much more competitive than in previous years. Taylor-Kristoffe Jones hopes to take advantage of recent Republican weaknesses in public policy to gain the upper hand in District 35B.

Taylor-Kristoffe Jones is taking strong stands on reducing the high cost of health care and higher education. She also wants more resources available for local transportation needs.

Taylor Kristoffe-Jones Launches Campaign Website
February 04, 2008
SAVAGE – Taylor Kristoffe-Jones launched her new campaign website today, one day before the Minnesota precinct caucus. The main purpose of the website is to inform the public about her campaign and her views on the issues. The website will also provide contact information, as well as provide a means for supporters to donate and volunteer.

Kristoffe-Jones is running for the Minnesota House seat in District 35 against right-wing Republican Mark Buesgens. She hopes that opening her own campaign website will help people get the information they need about her candidacy before the general election in November.

Kristoffe-Jones Announces 2nd Run for Minnesota House Seat
February 01, 2008
SAVAGE – Taylor Kristoffe-Jones announced today her intention to run again for the position of State Representative for Senate District 35B. The 43 year old Savage resident ran in 2006 at the request of the DFL Central Committee and gained 38.6% of the vote on election night, after only 3 months of campaigning.

"I was a newcomer to politics the first time around," stated Kristoffe-Jones. "This time I feel confident that with our strategy and the support of the Democrats in our district, we can win. Democrats will be coming out in huge numbers because of the presidential election, and I believe if we start now in working together, we can convince the Independents and leaning Republicans to join us."

The single mother has been a homeowner in Savage since 1991. Her only child, Aiden, now a Senior at Burnsville High School, got her involved in the community when he joined Cub Scouts and she became a den leader for his pack. "That experience really opened my eyes to how much of a difference you can make just by raising your hand and helping out." In the years since, she has gone on to work for several non-profit agencies such as Children's Heartlink, Minneapolis Heart Institute, Urban Ventures, and the SA/VE organization. She is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Non-Profit and Public Administration through Metropolitan State University in St. Paul.

"I'm committed to connecting with the community," Kristoffe-Jones adds. "For me, it's about knowing the people I represent and making sure I understand their needs before heading to the capitol. I want to start a dialogue that is ongoing, and make myself available to them all through out the year, in our backyards, not just in St. Paul."

In the 2006 election, Taylor's campaign, New Voice in the House, conducted the first ever door to door food drive in Savage, in an effort to give back to the community and make people look forward to elections again. "People weren't sure what to make of a candidate asking for food instead of money. But in the end, we gathered almost 600 pounds of food for our local food shelf. I'm very proud of that and grateful that the residents of Savage were willing to help me. Working together, we fed the hungry in Scott County."

The candidate plans to hold another food drive in the summer of 2008, and hopes for an even bigger turnout of food this time around.
